Mansfield ISD art students explored the variety of art and the business side of the industry at The Main Street Fort Worth Arts Festival on April 11. The festival is known for its expanse of art, from sculptures to paintings to instruments and beyond.
The Summit students who went had a variety of reasons why they wanted to attend the field trip.
“I had money that I wanted to spend on art,” sophomore Becky Pham said. “But I also wanted to see how artists advertise their art, plus get some inspiration.”
“I went because I wanted to spend some time with my friends and look at the art,” junior Jakob Acevedo said.
Their experiences with the art vendors and walking around had been simultaneously positive.
“I would say that it was peacefully chaotic,” senior Tracy Weldon said. “The artists there were very friendly.”
“I learned a lot about a variety of art, and the artists themselves were informative and passionate about their pieces,” sophomore Jax Chapa said.
Because of the number of students who went on the field trip and their different interests in art, they preferred certain artists over others.
“This one artist sculpted animals out of wires, it was really cool,” sophomore Gina Lee said.
“I believe his name was Tate Hamilton, and I really liked how he used oil paint,” sophomore Sofia Gaona.
The students learned many different things on the trip.
“I’m learning how to not be a perfectionist all the time,” Pham said.
“I think people should focus more on things that aren’t as popular, like the basics of art,” Weldon said.
