Spring break is just around the corner. With state mandates regarding Covid lifted, many want to get out of the house and do something or go somewhere. While Covid safety measures are still recommended and encouraged, here are a few options regarding spring break activities.

Escape Rooms- by Seannaya Rivera
People with high problem-solving skills may be in need of a challenge. Escape rooms can offer this challenge.
The Escape Game is one of the most notable escape rooms in America. With over 900+ reviews on the one in Grapevine and a 4.9-star average, it’s guaranteed to be an experience to have. Their sanitation cycles after every game make sure to keep guests safe from germs and diseases. For further measures, they even have virtual experiences too.

Red Door Escape Room has different rooms for difficulty levels. With 6 varying escape themes, including family-friendly ones, it’s a given that there’s a room that best suits your tastes and skill level. Given the options and difficulties, it’s a perfect present for kids of all ages.

The Perfect Escape is one of the more difficult rooms. It has 3 themes that range from difficulty levels 6/10 and 8/10. Their time slots for disinfecting have recently become increased and have certain booking plans so that people can only play with friends and family. They have rooms from all over the United States, including Arlington, Texas.

The Secret Chambers in Fort Worth is a trip to be made. Its claims of being the highest-rated escape room in Texas is nothing to sneeze at. They have six themes that you and your party could dress up to accordingly. It’s even encouraged for the commemorative photo.

The Dallas Museum of Art is one of the 10 largest museums in the country. It offers a large variety of experiences and exhibits for all ages including many different family, community, teen, and of course art programs. While tickets do need to be reserved in advance, general admission to the museum is free. This is to ensure the DMA remains a COVID-safe environment.

Despite being the oldest museum in Texas, the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth’s goal is to connect audiences of all ages through art and ideas. The museum offers many art-based programs including ones involving architecture, collection, workshops and family programs. While general admission is not, admission those under 18 is free.

The Perot Museum of Nature and Science offers a very hands-on learning experience catered to all ages. The museum contains many exhibits that encourage active participation and interactive activities. The museum has 11 exhibit halls spanning over 6 floors and a rather large lobby area that includes a cafe.

The Amon Carter Museum of American Art hosts many great examples of American Art. Even though the museum is still open to the public, it currently hosts many virtual events via zoom and facebook live. One is a spring break event going on multiple days next week that involves games, collaborative art and family activities.

Licensing in Texas: you must have a valid fishing license in Texas to fish both in salt or freshwater and catch and release

What is illegal: hunting/fishing without a license, using others licenses, obtaining more than one state license

How to stay safe while fishing: Make sure to have a boat that can handle the number of anglers, life jackets are required for anyone under 18 years of age, driver of the boat must not be impaired or intoxicated

Great places in Texas to fish include:

White Rock Lake, a very popular fishing spot in north east Dallas; many species of fish are found here like largemouth bass, catfish and crappie

Benbrook Lake in Fort Worth has many beautiful parks, with a wide variety of fish such as largemouth bass, white bass, crappie, and flathead catfish, not to mention the hiking trails and swimming areas.

Lake Fork, about 70 miles east of downtown Dallas is a great break from the big cities. You will not feel overcrowded as many people don’t travel very far. Known for some of the best spots in Texas to target largemouth bass, many state records have been caught, but for the best fishing you might want a boat as the big fish stay in deeper waters.

San Antonio is a city full of tourist attractions.

The San Antonio River is a public park open 365 days a year that welcomes over 14 million people every year. It also has many countless special events. It usually takes to walk the river takes about 5 hours.There is no cost to walk the river. The river also has boat rides, attractions and also many other activities that have a cost with them. The riverwalk has restaurants lining its edge.

The Alamo is a historical landmark and can be very sentimental to some people. The Alamo Mission, commonly called the Alamo and originally known as the Misión San Antonio de Valero, is a historic Spanish mission and fortress compound founded in the 18th century by Roman Catholic missionaries. It was the site of the Battle of the Alamo in 1836. You can walk around and observe the landmark and picture the action that took place there. Np photography is allowed inside as the Alamo is a shrine. This is free of charge.

Natural Bridge Caverns are the largest known commercial caverns in the U.S. The name is derived from the 60 ft natural limestone slab bridge that spans the amphitheater setting of the cavern’s entrance. The span was left suspended when a sinkhole collapsed below it. Tickets cost $17 for adults.

Glen Rose is big on fossil/dinosaur themed things, such as wildlife safaris and large dinosaur statues available to view. There are many fun activities to do in Glen Rose, including a drive-thru feeding zoo called Fossil Rim. There isn’t anything specific you need to bring to do this, everything will be provided for you there, just be prepared for some ostriches to stick their heads in your car! Along with Fossil Rim, there is a large park that you can walk around in called Dinosaur World that showcases giant dinosaur statues. After visiting all these fun attractions, you can get a meal at Riverhouse Grill, which has a variety of food options, or Hammond’s Grill, which offers real Texas barbeque.

Bringing friends and family to an amusement park can make the whole day feel great. Riding rides and running around all day, an amusement park is a fun place where people go on thrill rides, roller coasters, water rides, transportation rides and rides that are gentler for children and/or older people. Tickets, cash, sunglasses, sunscreen and reusable water bottles are some important things to bring on a visit to a park whether it’s Six Flags or Epic Waters. Shops, restaurants and other entertainment outlets are great places to get souvenirs and some food just in case you get hungry or bored throughout the day. In the late 1800’s, amusement parks started taking hold in the United States. Today most of the major amusement/theme parks continue to create faster and more thrilling rides in order to get people to visit.

The Arlington Esports Stadium is a turnkey solution for esports events and productions built to serve the unique needs and demands of the esports community.There are tours that take you through the facility and show you how everything works.The esports stadium also serves as a gaming center. You can come here and play games on the computers or consoles.There is food and drinks in the stadium, and the prices are cheap. You pay for the time you want to play. It is a clean, sanitized place that requires masks.

A fun activity to do during spring break is to go to a beach. The good news is there are many beaches in Texas. One of the best beaches is South Padre Island. This beach is located on South Padre Island. Along with going to the beach, you can also go to Sea Turtle Inc. where you can learn more about sea turtles. You can also go on a dolphin cruise, dine on fresh seafood at any number of local restaurants and kiteboard. Another beach, which is considered one of the best beaches in Texas, is the Boca Chica. Boca Chica is located near the Rio Grande River. It’s a serene and relaxing place. It’s definitely one of the prettiest beaches in Texas. Boca Chica also has lots of recreational activities, such as surfing, snorkeling, swimming, fishing and more. The last beach suggestion is Corpus Christi. Corpus Christi gets lots of visitors and tourists all the time, and there’s a reason. At the North Beach in Corpus Christi, you’re able to swim, bike, fish, and more. It’s also home to the USS Lexington Museum and the Texas State Aquarium. In conclusion, there are many great beaches to go to in Texas, though these are just a few that I personally would recommend.

With spring break approaching, people want to leave their houses for a little while and enjoy the sunshine and the outdoors. Arlington has some great parks for those needs, such as River Legacy park found on 703 NW Green Oaks Boulevard Cooper Street, which has a river, a wide variety of wildlife to be seen, and even a playground. If you own a dog, you may want to visit Tails and Trails Dog Park found on 950 SE Green Oaks Blvd. The park boasts having trails and woods as well as an average dog park area. It is also said parks can boost overall health, as they can be a space to exercise and look at nature, refresh mood and reinvigorate one’s self.

For those with a creative mind, spring break means there’s time to do some arts. If you prefer to stay at home to do arts you can find many arts and crafts, painting, sketching, designing on Pinterest. If you prefer to go out, go to Board & Brush. At Board & Brush, you can use creativity to paint and decorate wood signs. You not only you use your imagination but can also learn new skills. Painting with a Twist offers similar services to Board and Brush.

At the Dallas Zoo take an adventure and see some animals that will probably leave you speechless and fascinated. It’s a really good trip for anybody. It doesn’t matter if you’re old or young, you’ll love seeing the different selection of animals you don’t normally see.

Main Event is indoors, so you don’t have to worry about rain or extreme temperatures. The venue offers laser tag, bowling, billiards and an arcade, and it also offers food and drink. Main Event has so many options, it’s nearly impossible to get bored.

Top Golf offers fun and food with friends as well as lessons if improvement is desired.

The Great Wolf Lodge gigantic indoor waterpark is always 84 degrees Fahrenheit no matter how hot or cold it is outside. Everything you need for the perfect spring break is here. You can find themed restaurants, interactive arcades, ​full-service spas (even a version for kids), fitness centers, and special spring break activities for the young ones. Spend all day relaxing as the current sweeps you along the winding lazy river while the kids will enjoy the four-story interactive treehouse with spray stations and soaker buckets.
