For birthday presents, some kids want a car, some want a phone and others want something expensive. For running back Lewis Washington, however, he got something better than all of that in the form of a couple touchdowns and a crucial onside kick recovery on Aug. 27 against Fossil Ridge.

“That was fun,” Washington said. “It was the best birthday present ever. It was special to spend it with my friends.”

Head coach Travis Pride said that he’s the best player on the field.

“He’s our biggest offensive threat and a Division I player,” Pride said.

Washington, who has verbally committed to Rice University, said that he has the potential to bring the team back when their down.

“I bring the unexpected play,” Washington said. “When we’re down, it brings life back to the team.”

Off the field, it’s a different story.

“I’m the goofy one,” Washington said. “I play around a lot. I work hard but also have a lot of fun.”

Quarterback Xavier Williams said that he helps out the offense a ton.

“He makes big plays for us,” Williams said. “He knows his assignments.”

And as he continues to turn heads in the DFW area, Coach Pride will continue to know the real Lewis Washington.

“He is a great kid who works hard and is very talented,” Pride said.
