In hopes of spreading a little Summit Love throughout the halls, Melanie Atkinson and her AcaDec students created an interactive encouragement poster in I hall. They placed hundreds of sticky notes with encouraging words on the wall.

As they went down the hall, students and staff members could take what they wanted. They could even leave what they wanted. In the heaps of notes you could spot kind words in a variety of languages.

“ I see people walk to it and take a note and read it on there way to class,” Atkinson said. “Hopefully they think something positive from it.”

It seemed to work. Several students said seeing the notes brightened up a day that had been off to a bad start.

“The wall is literally so uplifting and cute because it’s really a wall of compliments you can choose from,” said freshman Joy Olatunde as she added her own words of encouragement on the wall.

Adding the notes and involving others in school spirit made students just as happy.

“It makes me feel good to make others feel good,” junior Arantza Zamudio. “So seeing someone have a bad day and cheer up when they see our poster makes me feel fluffy inside.”

Perhaps one note said it best.

“Love is the best medicine and we’re here to give you just that.”
